Today was a fun day on the course. We played Rockland Championship Course up near Nyack. Tee time was 8:30am and Jim, Jamie and Barksdale were to meet me there. Barksdale and Jamie were running on time, if not early, but we all know that Jim is on CPT time. Needless to say I think the Jetta pulled in the parking lot at about 8:25am. Temperature was pretty cold for the first 9 holes, in about the 50 - 55 degree range.
Now for the Nassau game. As a group we decided to play a little differently to keep our concentration focused. We played a new game called Nassau. It basically consists of 3 bets, winner of the 1st 9, winner of the 2nd 9, and overall lowest score. The teams were made and it was J&J (Jamie and Jim representing J&J pharmacy) vs Barksdale and myself (representing Quinnipiac).
Now for the play. Evan and Barks started out on the right foot, winning the first hole, but that was about it from there. J&J win the next 5 holes. At the end of 9 Jamie is at a 50, Jim at 60, Barks at 66 and Evan at 56. On the back 9 Evan and Barks came to play. Some say it was the carb filled chicken tenders that the team ate at the half way point. We started out winning 4 of 5 holes. J&J both made a strong effort on the back nine each paring the same hole very nicely. The problem for everyone today: PUTTING! The greens were in very good condition, but the putting today was very very weak. In the end, J&J won the 1st 9 and the push, and the back 9 push. Team Quinnipiac take the win on the back 9. Overall lowest score goes to Evan with a comeback (or more of an explosion by Jamie) on the back 9. Jamie was leading by 6 at the half, and then turned in 61 for the back 9. It was good to see everyone, not work, and play some golf.
Evan 109, Jamie 111, Jim, 116, Justin 123
Overall Battle:
Evan 5 – Jamie 2
Evan 1 – Jim 0
Evan 1 – Justin 0
